Body and Self in Relationship: The Practice of AEDP (SOM648c)
Faculty: Diana Fosha, PhD
This course will explore the psychological and somatic dimensions of the therapeutic relationship, including the impact of sensations, breath, and somatic experience on therapist-client interactions. It will also shed light on how Accelerated Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) may foster healing through the in-depth processing of difficult emotional and relational experiences. The integration of psychodynamic theory and relational somatic-inclusive psychotherapy practice is considered from developmental and relational perspectives.
Diana Fosha, PhD, developed Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which is featured in the American Psychological Association’s Systems of Psychotherapy Video Series. She is the author of The Transforming Power of Affect: A Model for Accelerated Change and co-editor of The Healing Power of Emotion: Affective Neuroscience, Development & Clinical Practice.
